Back to school season is here again—even though it feels like we just went on summer vacation. If you’re anything like us, this shift can be incredibly stressful, especially when the first week of class arrives and you’re juggling multiple schools’ emails, new schedules, and extracurriculars…all while still trying to stay on top of your normal workload, personal schedule, and (maybe, just maybe) enjoying your free time.
As always, you don’t have to do any of it alone! Whether your kids head back to school in early or late August, these are the 5 tasks you should offload now to a virtual assistant for a smooth, stress-free start to the season. From getting on top of your current inbox to ordering this year’s supply list. We’re here to save you hours that are easily lost to these recurring tasks:
1. Declutter your inbox
A Virtual Assistant can prepare your inbox for the new school year, especially the one that will handle school and extracurricular correspondence. They’ll unsubscribe from unnecessary newsletters and declutter your email to ensure important messages don’t get lost.
2. Set up folders
If you have more than one child (or even just one very busy child) organization is key. An assistant can create folders for each of your children in your email account and set up filters so emails from their teachers, coaches, and other school contacts go directly into the appropriate folder. This way, you can check each folder daily and know you’re not missing anything important!
3. Coordinate your schedules now
A great way to get ahead of the year’s chaos is by coordinating all of your schedules now. You can work with a VA to organize and cross-check your work, personal, and family calendars. The schedule change will no doubt still take time, trial, and error, but it’s always easier when everyone is on the same page from the jump. We also recommend keeping a large family calendar in your home where everyone will see it so that no one is left out of the loop.
4. Get ahead of school requirements
On top of organizing your inbox and creating folders, this is the time to begin familiarizing yourself with any online systems that your kids’ schools will be using for communication and assignments throughout the year.
A VA can handle the time consuming task of getting your accounts set up and ready for the school year. That way you’ll be ready to help your students navigate it all as soon as their classes start.
5. Order Your School Supplies
Beyond the basics needed for school, you’ll need to have extra supplies at home to support your children’s success. This might include pencils, water bottles, lunchboxes, labels, art supplies, and even an extra backpack. Plus, you never know what they’ll need to get after the first week of school.
Luckily, these are all items that a Virtual Assistant can order for you (from the linked download HERE!)
As the back to school chaos kicks off, don’t get caught up in the added stress of missing emails, lost supplies lists, and incorrect calendars. Start working with a MOD Virtual Assistant now to take back your hours this fall!
