According to Forbes, nearly 80% of people admitted to abandoning their New Year’s resolutions by February every year. If you are someone who is in the majority, there could be a plethora of different reasons why you can’t stick with your new year’s resolutions. For instance, coming off the busy Holiday season, from early November to December, is exhausting. If you are really serious about your goals in 2022, maybe we have to think of January as the planning Month, and February as the focused Month.

What is Holding You Back From Accomplishing Your New Year’s Resolutions?

Many people fall short of accomplising their goals, within the first Month of the new year. So much so, that many people don’t even make them anymore, because they are afraid of falling short. Eating healthier, going to the gym, starting the business, or taking up the new hobby, all require consistency.

The problem is not with wanting to make changes to your life. The problem is with the process of how we try and bring those changes about. Because personal change is an ongoing process. When we make New Year’s resolutions, we typically view personal change as an eventual outcome — the end goal we want to achieve.

How to Begin When you Don’t Know Where to Begin?

Starting a new year can be a very exciting time, but it can also be a very daunting time because a lot of people put pressure on themselves to be better than the previous year. When you don’t know where to begin, it’s important to keep in mind that Rome wasn’t built in a day, and the best way to start a new journey is to take one step at a time. Keep your goals simple, and start small so that you can build upon your goals as you reach new milestones in them.

Sometimes the best way to begin is to grab a piece of paper, and just start writing down what you want to accomplish in the new year. It could be anything, dream BIG —  From there, narrow down the top 3 things that you feel are attainable, and write out HOW you will accomplish these goals. When you have a plan of WHAT and HOW you will do, the last step is to change your habits, and set your goals in your everyday life through positive affirmations everyday!
