There’s a certain kind of week where everything feels just slightly harder than it should. Your to-do list isn’t necessarily longer than usual, but your bandwidth definitely is. If that sounds familiar right now, this one’s for you. And honestly, the title of this blog could really be “What to Delegate Every Week” because most of these tasks remain evergreen and will continue to be a headache during weeks where your days are already full. But for now, try to pass along one or two of these to your MOD assistant and see how it feels to have less on your plate!
Organizing Your Office:
If you haven’t yet implemented our weekly home office reset, or if your office needs some help upfront to get back into shape before you’re able to keep it organized weekly, have your assistant tackle it! They can freshen up your bookshelves, de-clutter your desk space, file away loose paperwork, and implement new systems of organization.
Scheduling Appointments:
It’s easy to put off scheduling things—important things—when you don’t have the energy to look at your calendar. But when you’re overdue for a dental cleaning, or your HVAC needs a tune up, or you haven’t scheduled that important meeting at work yet, it’s time to bring in the help of your assistant to handle the logistics.
Making Returns:
Whether you ordered the wrong thing online and can’t make it to the post office soon, or you’ve been meaning to get back to the mall with a whole handful of items, give it to your personal assistant! They’ll be able to run all your returns errands so that you don’t have to stress about finding the time.
Unpacking from Spring Break:
Did you get back from your Spring Break trip and go straight to real life without any time to take a breather or even get settled in? It happens! A lot. Good thing your assistant can unpack your bags, do a few loads of laundry, and put everything back where it belongs—including putting your suitcases back so they’re not sitting out on your bedroom floor for weeks.
Researching Summer Camps:
We know Spring Break was, well, yesterday but right now is prime time to get your kiddos enrolled in camps throughout their summer break. If you haven’t started yet, give your assistant some parameters based on your child’s age, interests, and available weeks, then let them go down the rabbit hole for you! Replying to Social Media Comments & DMs:
Whether or not your assistant is running your social media accounts, it’s important that someone is responding to comments and DMs in a timely manor. Having your assistant ready to reply during their workday helps you more than you might think. Not only is it important for customer loyalty, but it also boosts your algorithm visibility if you respond within a shorter window of time.
Planning Birthday or Graduation Parties:
Your assistant can start by sending out all of the invitations (or creating a Partiful) long before the event actually comes around. Then, when it’s time for the festivities they can help you prepare for guests by picking up orders, decorations, catering, etc. And if you’re planning on sending out thank you notes, they can help you organize the list and send those out for you as well!
The truth is, delegation is a skill, and like any skill, it gets easier the more you do it. Starting small is still starting! So, if you’ve been on the fence about bringing on a personal or virtual assistant, consider this your sign to take the first step — even if that first step is just one errand. We’re here when you’re ready to get started!
